Armenia: Noah's Land
According
to the Bible after the Great flood the ark of Noah landed on the mountain Ararat.
Descending
the mountain Noah begins planting a vineyard and making wine.
Noah
considered to be the first winemaker, and Armenia - the homeland of winemaking.
During the tour you
will be given a chance to pass through the Noah's land
and to taste wine in the 6000 years old winery.

Day 2. Yerevan (50km)
After breakfast
at the hotel, meet your tour guide and start city tour round Yerevan. The contemporary
capital of Armenia is 13th and is one of
the oldest cities of the world founded in 782 BC. During tour visit Erebouni
Museum of the History of the Foundation of Yerevan which stands at
the foot of the Arin Berd hill, on top of which the Urartian Fortress Erebouni
has been constructed.
Excurtion in Yerevan
Ararat Brandy-Wine-Vodka factory. During the tour the guests visit distillation
department, cooperage department, the museum, wine-cellar, where they taste our
old wines and we finish the tour with testing famous brandies ''Noah''. The next visit is Yerevan
History Museum which throw light on the history of the city
beginning from ancient times up to our days. Return to the hotel. Overnight at the hotel (Yerevan).
Day 3. Yerevan- Garni- Gegard- Yerevan (73km)
Breakfast at the hotel. Visiting History Museum of Armenia, where you will get acquaintance with the large collection of materials connected with history of Armenia and ancient eastern countries in the Armenian Highland. Visit National Gallery of Armenia in the same building which has huge collection of Russian, Armenian, and European works, some of the latter copies or else spoils of WWII divided among the various Soviet republics. Here you will see works of the Armenia immortal sea-scapist Hovhannes Ayvazovsky including the famous painting "Dejection of Noah from mountain ARARAT" Drive to Garni temple(1stA.D.) which is the only "witness" of Hellenistic Epoch in the territory of CIS. After numerous Roman attacks, the temple was reconstructed and dedicated to Mithra, the God of Sun. Continue tour to Gegard Monastery(12-13thcc..). Geghard initially known simply as Irivank (Cave Monastery). The name refers to the biblical lance used by Roman soldier to pierce the Christ's body. Hundreds of Khachkars and caves are built in the rocks surrounding the Monastery. Geghard and the Upper Azat Valley are inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Return to Yerevan with stop at the Charents's Arch. It is from here that the Greatest Armenian poet of XX c. admired the view of the double-peaked Ararat. Here you can enjoy the Great Armenian poet's poems dedicated to ARARAT: (Pass the whole world, there's no summit as white as that of ARARAT, Like glory road, unreachable, I love as well my Mount Massis). In the evening we invite you visit movie club to watch film "Armenia: Noah's Land". Return to hotel. Overnight at the hotel(Yerevan).
Day 4. Yerevan-Ejmiatsin-Zvartnots-Yerevan (40km)
Breakfast at the hotel. Morning visit Matenadaran-one of unique Institutes of Ancient Manuscripts in the world. Excursion to centuries-old monuments Ejmiatsin and Zvartnots listed on UNESCO World Heritage list. Visiting the churches of 3 Virgins: centre-domed cruciform church of Saint Hripsimeh (618), domical basilica of Saint Gayaneh (630) and 'domed gallery' type church of Shoghakat (1694). The Cathedral of Ejmiatsin (303) is an official residence of Armenian Catholicos. At the Museum of the Mother Cathedral you will see many reliquaries: the Holy Lance (Geghart) which pierced the side of Christ, housed in a silver reliquary; the relics of Noah's Ark in a reliquary that was created in 1698; "Khotekerats Sourp Nishan" reliquary with the relic of Jesus Christ's wooden cross (914-929); the cross of King Ashot Yerkat with it chest, one of the oldest processional crosses in existence, etc.Visiting Zvartnots(7-10th cc..)- a Temple of Vigil Forces. Return to Yerevan. Overnight at the hotel(Yerevan).
Day 5. Yerevan-Sevan-Hayravank-Noratus-Dilijan (180km)
Breakfast at the hotel. Trip to the "Armenian Pearl" - Lake Sevan which is the 2nd high-altitude and largest lake in the world with its sweet and astonishingly blue water. Visiting Sevanavank in Sevan peninsula and so popular Cross-Stone "Forest"(cemetry 9-15th cc.) in Noratus. Continue tour to Dilijan. Trip to Haghartsin(10-13th c.) monastery which became a great cultural and spiritual center of the region in XII century. Return to Yerevan. Overnight at the hotel (Yerevan).

Day 6. Yerevan-Khor Virap-Noravank-Areni-Jermuk (120km)
Breakfast at the
hotel. First trip to Khor Virap(4-18th cc..)
the importance of which is connected with Gregory the Illuminator, who
introduced Christianity in Armenia. On the way to Khor Virap you can enjoy
the spectacular view of the sacred Ararat Mountain -
an immortal symbol of Armenia. Then excursion to Noravank(13-14thcc..)situated
among amazing sheer rocks on the bench of a twisty gorge. Near Noravank we will
visit Chalcolithic pit in the cave of Areni, where you will get acquaintance
with latest archeological discoveries in the teritoty of Armenia. Mainly 6000
years old winery found in this cave. Archeologists have unearthed the oldest
wine-making facility, using biochemical techniques to identify a dry red
vintage of the winery. In the same cave an international team of archeologists
has discovered the world's oldest leather shoe. The 5500 years-old shoe was
perfectly preserved by the cool, dry conditions. On your way back You will visit Areni
church(14th c). The village of Areni is famous also for its excellent wine,
which You are welcome to taste. Drive to Jermuk. Overnight at the hotel(Jermuk).
Day 7. Jermuk-Khndzoresk-Tatev-Yerevan (300km)
Breakfast at the hotel. Drive to Khndzoresk village widely famous for its canyon with picturesque rock formations and ancient cave settlement. The artificial caves, some of which are currently used as stables and warehouses, used to be inhabited till the 1950s. Tour to legendary Tatev monastery one of the finest in Armenia. To the monastery you will reach by Guinness world records longest(5.7km) cableway. Built in 895, the monastic complex consist of three churches of impressive sizes. In XIVc. Grigor Tatevatci based here the University of Tatev. On the way to Yerevan, descending to Vorotan gorge we can see one more creation of the nature - Devil's bridge of Vorotan river. This not made by hands structure astonishes by its perfection, moreover, from below the bridge is entirely covered by stalactite formations. Back to Yerevan. Overnight at the hotel (Yerevan).
